Man dead after an officer-involved shooting in Phoenix
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A man police say was throwing rocks at Phoenix police was shot by officers Saturday evening near 19th Avenue and Tuckey lane just south of Glendale Avenue. Phoenix police say the man in his early 30′s was throwing rocks and other items at officers while they passed through an intersection.
The officers turned their patrol car around and confronted the man who continued to throw objects while the officers exited their vehicles. They told the man to stop and they say he continued to throw items at them, that’s when officers fired at the man. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
Phoenix police are continuing to investigate this incident. This is the 51st officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County and the 79th in the state in 2022.
